Zinc Primer Coating is a Zinc Rich epoxy coating designed as an exceptional powder primer for ferrous substrates. This coating will offer outstanding corrosion protection for products exposed to severe environmental conditions. The zinc-rich primer works on mild steel because of the same dissimilar metal reaction. The position the dissimilar metals are on the galvanic scale determines which metal is "sacrificed" to the corrosion. In this case zinc is "sacrificed" over the steel, therefore, the steel is left corrosion free as long as the zinc is still present. This unique thermoset epoxy technology incorporates a well-known corrosion inhibitor that works by sacrificing itself to protect the metal substrate. This is not to be used on non-ferrous substrates such as aluminum as the reverse mechanism would happen and the aluminum would be sacrificed.
In addition to corrosion fighting, this coating also has superior physical properties such as good edge coverage, flexibility, and impact resistance. It can also be used as a stand-alone finish, if the parts do not require UV protection.
Mostly used as Primer for architectural steel, marine hardware, coil springs, outdoor furniture, and military applications.
