As part of this drive we have added a new line of surface finishing called wood effect finish to our range of coatings. With this option we give our customers the option to transform almost any metal item into the genuine and real appearance of natural wood.
The fabricating advantage and structural properties of metal and the appearance of Rainbow wood effect coating combine to give components an ability that would have not been possible if made in timber wood.
Rainbow wood effect coatings matches natural wood with variation in color, grain density and grain pattern to match the patterns that would be expected in wood.
Our wood grain powder coatings also protect against outdoor elements, such as ultraviolet rays. The use of our powder coat systems also helps to preserve precious forests around the world, which are getting depleted through excess use of natural wood.
Preparation and Coating
The wood effect powder coating process starts with a pretreatment of chemical conversion and activation which is applied to a raw mill finish aluminum substrate, creating thin layers of amorphous oxide with a coating.
The next step in the process is to apply a base coat of polyester powder coating using electrostatic guns. A 60-90 microns thick layer of powder paint (VOC Free) is applied. Curing at a 210-220°C temperature for up to 20-30 minutes, Polymerization is then achieved which melts the powder paint to a liquid that sets solid upon cooling. The cured base coat is ideal to creating sufficient hardness on the finalized product. It protects the bare aluminum surface against factors such as weather, corrosion, abrasion, light and humidity.
A pre-printed heat transfer film(that contains organic photosensitive pigments and cellulose resin) is wrapped around the product, which is set on the surface of a trolley that has an automatic vacuum suction mechanism in the next process of wood effect coating also known as Sublimation.
A vacuum suction system removes air and creates a perfect smooth pattern transfer process.
A specialized automatic loading oven is used to load the vacuum activated items to being the sublimation heat transfer process. The heat inside causes the ink pigments to transfer onto the powder coated substrate and thereby forms the desired pattern. Upon cooling the film can be removed with the pattern permanently transferred.
